Teen Mom 3 Stars: Where They Are Now After a Decade - OtakuKart

▪ Katie Yeager and Alex Sekella stepped away from fame for a quieter life.

Teen Mom has remained one of MTV's most well-known franchises, continuously creating new shows for over ten years. Some of the latest versions include Teen Mom: The Next Chapter and Teen Mom: Family Reunion. However, not every spin-off achieved long-term success.

Teen Mom 3 did not perform as well as the others and was canceled after just one season. It aired from August 26, 2013, to November 18, 2013.

Teen Mom 3 followed four young mothers as they handled the challenges of early parenthood. Two of these moms, Briana DeJesus and Mackenzie McKee, remained part of the franchise and continued appearing in different spin-offs.

However, Alex Sekella and Katie Yeager stepped away from the public eye after the show ended. Since it has been more than ten years since they appeared on television together, many wonder where they are now.

Unlike their former co-stars, Briana DeJesus and Mackenzie McKee never left reality television behind. They continue to share their lives on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter alongside other well-known cast members.

Briana re-entered the franchise in 2017 when she joined the eighth season of Teen Mom 2. She has two daughters: Nova, born in 2011 with her ex-boyfriend Devoin Austin, and Stella, born in 2017 with her ex, Luis Hernandez.

Briana became a central figure in the Teen Mom universe because of the personal challenges and conflicts she shared. MTV wanted her back because she was always involved in intense situations, from discussing adoption for her second child to dealing with cheating exes.

She openly shared her struggles with absent fathers and even public feuds with fellow Teen Mom star Kailyn Lowry. She has also spoken about her experiences with plastic surgery, including the complications she faced. Though some people feel she shares too much, her presence on the show has lasted longer than any of her Teen Mom 3 co-stars.

Mackenzie McKee also returned to the franchise in 2019 when MTV invited her to join Teen Mom OG. She initially appeared as a guest but soon became a permanent cast member. Since then, she has been part of multiple spin-offs.

Mackenzie married Josh McKee in 2013, and their son, born in 2011, was featured on the show. They later had two more children in 2014 and 2016. Their relationship had many difficulties, including Josh's infidelity and his frequent absences. Fans followed Mackenzie's life closely, including the heartbreaking journey of her mother's battle with cancer. Sadly, her mother passed away in 2019.

In 2022, Mackenzie and Josh separated, and they finalized their divorce in 2024. Since then, she has moved on and is now engaged to Jamaican soccer player Khesanio Hall.

They got engaged in May 2023 and are currently trying to have a child through IVF. Their fertility journey has been shared on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, allowing fans to continue following her story.

Unlike Briana and Mackenzie, Alex Sekella and Katie Yeager never returned to reality television after Teen Mom 3 ended. They have chosen to live quieter lives, avoiding public attention. Both of them remain mostly private on social media, only sharing occasional updates about their lives.

In a 2015 interview with The Ashley, Katie explained her decision to step away from the spotlight. She expressed that she valued her privacy and felt relieved when the show ended. "I like my privacy," she said. "Once the show ended, it was a bittersweet feeling, but I was relieved to have an out to go back to a somewhat normal life."

She provided more details in a 2017 interview with E! News. "I went to school. I moved to Utah. I was working for a rehab facility, which was just a regular day-to-day life, taking care of my daughter. It was just her and me for a long time," she shared.

Katie also mentioned how much she appreciated being able to live normally without being followed by cameras. "It's definitely more mellow. I graduated from school and have always worked. I can now go places and be normal and not have people following me around. It always brings attention to you. If I want to go to the store and not brush my hair, I don't have to worry about that because no one cares."

She reassured fans that she is happy with her life. "I am just like any other normal mom right now. I get to stay home with my girls, which is great because I haven't had that opportunity before. I'm loving it."

Katie had a second daughter in 2017 with her now-ex, Tyler Thayn. She remains private about her younger child, keeping details like her name off social media.

While Katie occasionally shares updates about her eldest daughter, her social media presence is limited. Her last Instagram post was earlier this year when she attended a performance of The Book of Mormon in Salt Lake City.

While Katie has remained private, her ex, Joey Maas, has faced serious problems. In 2016, reports surfaced that he had a warrant for his arrest due to unpaid child support, owing more than $8,000. Since having a daughter with Katie in 2012, he has fathered three more children.

Alex Sekella has also chosen to stay out of the public eye, providing only a few updates over the years. During Teen Mom 3, viewers watched her separate from her daughter Arabella's father, Matt McCann. He has remained absent from their lives ever since.

"Arabella has not seen Matt in over eight years, and she was adopted by my husband Tim," Alex said in an Instagram comment in 2022.

Alex married Tim Peters, and they have two children together. They had a daughter in 2022 and a son in 2024. Tim officially adopted Arabella in 2022, as confirmed in one of Alex's Instagram posts.

Matt McCann has had a difficult time since Teen Mom 3 ended. In a 2015 interview, he spoke about his struggles with addiction and the aftermath of his overdose. He admitted to using drugs heavily during 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom 3. At the time, he had already been sober for three years.

"Since the show has ended, I have worked so hard to get my life in order," Matt said. "During the filming of 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom 3, I was heavily using whatever [drugs] I could get hold of. At that time, I was already so deep into my addiction that nothing could have pulled me out, sadly not even Arabella."

Alex last posted on Instagram in 2024. The few posts she has shared show her enjoying her life as a mother of three.

Katie and Alex may not have the same public platform as Briana and Mackenzie, but they seem happy with their choices. While Mackenzie and Briana continue to build their reality TV careers, Katie and Alex have embraced a life away from the cameras. They may have missed out on fame and large paychecks, but they have gained privacy and a sense of normalcy.

Though it has been over a decade since Teen Mom 3 aired, many of its stars have built meaningful lives in different ways. Whether they chose the spotlight or a quieter path, they have each created their own versions of success.
