WEST ASHLEY -- Charleston County deputies arrested a woman and her boyfriend after they allegedly left her 1-year-old child alone near a busy intersection.

According to a news release from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the area of Ashley River and Old Parsonage roads in the late afternoon of March 3 for reports of a 1-year-old child walking in the area without adult supervision.

The intersection of the two roads -- near Wolf Track Bar & Grill in West Ashley -- is only a block away from Church Creek.

The child was taken to an area hospital and treated, the release said. The child's mother, Taylor Gallagher, arrived at the scene after the child had been taken to the hospital. She was arrested and charged with unlawful conduct toward a child.

After investigating, deputies also arrested Elio Acanfora Jr., Gallagher's boyfriend, contending he was complicit in the lack of supervision of the baby. He was also arrested and charged with unlawful conduct toward a child.

Gallagher had a bond hearing on March 4 and received a $100,000 surety bond. Acanfora received a surety bond of $50,000.
