Redding, Calif. -- The Redding Rotary Club has distributed funds raised from its annual Sundial Riffle Raffle to 27 youth groups and school programs, continuing a tradition that has generated over $5 million in the past 30 years. This year, the event raised more than $135,000, with 25 of the 27 participating programs receiving 100% of their ticket sales to reinvest in their initiatives. The top recipient received over $20,000.
"So, we've had testimony after testimony from kids who have been affected by this, affected by substance abuse in their family and how this has helped them," said Mark Storrey, VP of the Sundial Riffle Raffle Board. "It also provides so many opportunities for children at schools and special events to be able to do different projects which keeps them involved."
Storrey, expressed the joy of witnessing the distribution of checks and seeing the top sellers receive their prizes. He also noted the enthusiasm of school leaders discussing the benefits the funds will bring to their programs. Storey encouraged more community involvement in future raffles, emphasizing that many youth programs likely qualify for participation.
