INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) -- The Fever have been active in the offseason and their goal has been clear: get players with championship experience.
That goal has been completed. In adding DeWanna Bonner, Natasha Howard, and Sydney Colson, the Fever got three players with a combined seven WNBA titles.
That investment has Caitlin Clark really excited.
"I think Kelly (Krauskopf, Fever president of basketball operations) and Amber (Cox, Fever general manager) have done a really good job of finding pieces that fit," Clark said. "It makes me excited about the future."
Clark said adding the championship experience was exactly what they needed.
"They're not only really good basketball players, they're really great leaders and really great people and I know the front office obviously really prioritized that in looking for the pieces that we wanted to add," Clark said.
"I think we're going to have a lot of different options to do a lot of different things and I think that's what's super exciting about it all."
Clark has gotten the opportunity to work out with Bonner already. She noted her competitive fire is exactly what you want and her leadership is going to push everyone to improve.
With all the investments in the offseason, which also includes the announcement of a new state-of-the-art practice facility, Clark had nothing but glowing things to say about the Fever organization.
"I feel very fortunate and lucky to come here to stay in the Midwest," Clark said. "This is the franchise in all of women's sports, I say, no matter what sport it is. They're certainly investing. They see the type of crowds we get. They see the excitement we're generating, not just in the state of Indiana but all across the country and I think the next few years are going to be amazing for this franchise and will continue to be for hopefully 10+ years and hopefully we win a few championships."
The Fever got back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2016 season in 2024. They'll look to build off that success when the season gets underway on Saturday, May 17 against the Chicago Sky.
