FAIRFIELD -- Vanden High School's girls basketball team took a pause from the Monticello Empire League schedule Saturday night to face East Bay powerhouse Acalanes and lost, 72-49, at home.
Acalanes, now 24-1 overall, set the tone early with a 24-8 run in the first quarter. Vanden was never able to recover. The MEL champions fell to 18-9 overall.
Vanden closes out the regular season Thursday night with a 7:30 p.m. game at Rodriguez. Playoff pairings will be announced Saturday in the Sac-Joaquin Section and the Vikings will be playing in the Division I field this year.
La'Miracle Lebon led the Lady Vikings with 12 points. Calonni Holloway and Kiki Snell each had 10 points. Kailee Brown also had 8 points.
