Betty Elisa was born on March 18, 1945, in Monticello, Iowa, to Tobias and Elise (Doden) Hinrichs. She graduated from Monticello High School, Class of 1963. On June 6, 1965, she married Jerry Andresen in Monticello. Betty worked alongside her husband on their farm, often serving as his "right-hand man" and becoming a skilled hog sorter over the years. For over 13 years, she also worked for Schoenthaler Law Firm.
She was a dedicated member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oxford Junction, where she served as the Treasurer for many years. She was also involved in WELCA, the Athletic Booster Club, and volunteered as a 4-H Leader. Betty enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, listening to music while canning vegetables from her garden or baking her famous Kolaches. Her kitchen was always open, where she would have freshly baked goods ready to share. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family; whether it was playing games, attending events, or giving and receiving hugs from the grandkids.
Betty is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Jerry; their three children: Scott (Carol) Andresen of Oxford Junction, Karla (Anthony) Stevens of Ames, and Dawn (Kevin) Harms of Roland; as well as eleven grandchildren and a great-grandson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Norman, Harvey, and LeRoy, and a grandson, Mathias Harms.
The family would like to thank Above and Beyond Hospice for their excellent care of Betty and the assistance provided to the family that allowed her to remain at home.
Memorials may be directed to her family, who will donate to a variety of her favorite local charities in her honor. Cards of condolences may be mailed to Dawson Funeral Services, Attn: Betty Andresen Family, PO Box 258, Wyoming, Iowa 52362.
