A 19-year-old man and two minors were arrested early Monday morning in Meridian after a shooting in West Boise sent two people to the hospital, one with a life-threatening injury.
Daniel Alaniz Pineda, of Meridian, was booked into the Ada County Jail on suspicion of five felonies: two counts of aggravated battery, with an enhancement for use a deadly weapon, and two counts of robbery. The two boys were each booked on suspicion of felony robbery, Boise police said in a news release.
The shooting happened in the 1400 block of North Cole Road in Boise a little after 10 p.m. Sunday, police said. The three suspects and the two victims initially met up near there, which led to a "dispute over property," and a brief chase after the suspects took a phone, wallet and identification from the victims, police said.
The victims, an adult male and adult female, confronted the three suspects, and police allege Alaniz Pineda shot at them while they were in their vehicle. The adult male suffered a life-threatening injury, and the adult female a non-life-threatening injury, police said. Both were transported to an area hospital.
With assistance from the Meridian and Garden City police departments and the Ada County Sheriff's Office, Boise police were able to locate the vehicle driven by the suspects at a home 6 miles west in the 300 block of North Meridian Road in Meridian. Police blocked roads around the home to establish a perimeter and the Meridian Police Department's Special Tactics Group team helped take the three suspects into custody.
The roads around the Meridian home, and those around the area where the shooting took place on Cole Road in Boise, have reopened to traffic.
