Where Colorado women's basketball stands ahead of Selection Sunday

Despite making some noise in the Big 12 Tournament with two wins, Colorado women's basketball likely won't hear its name called for the NCAA Tournament on Selection Sunday this weekend.

ESPN analyst Charlie Creme released his latest women's bracketology on Sunday evening, and the Buffs weren't even listed as a bubble team. Surprisingly, Arizona, which Colorado beat in the Big 12 Tournament and during the regular season, was a "First Four Out" squad.

At 20-12 overall (9-9 Big 12), Colorado will likely earn a spot in the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament. The WBIT is a 32-team secondary postseason tournament that begins March 20 and features three rounds of on-campus games, meaning the Buffs could make at least one more appearance at the CU Events Center. The semifinals and championship game will be hosted at Butler's historic Hinkley Fieldhouse.

Colorado may not get into March Madness for the fourth straight year, but head coach JR Payne's new-look squad held its own in the Big 12 and should remain competitive next season.
