CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland was host to one of the many "International Women's Day: Unite & Resist" marches held throughout the country on Saturday.
A large gathering of people were packed shoulder-to-shoulder at Market Square Park in the Ohio City neighborhood on a sunny, but chilly, afternoon to make their voices heard on topics such as women's rights, worker's rights, LGBTQ rights and more.
The local event was hosted by Women's March Cleveland and International Women's Day Cleveland, and was held to help bring attention to what the organizers see as people's rights being under attack by the Trump administration.
Marchers first gathered in the square to listen to a variety of speakers, including organizer Kathy Coleman, U.S. Rep. Shontel Brown, Cleveland City Council Member Joe Jones, and a host of local activists before setting off on a march through Ohio City.
Many of the marchers waved signs and chanted as they marched along the route that traveled west on Lorain Avenue to Fulton Road and east on Bridge Street, before heading back to the park on West 25th Street.
