Adam Sandler Called a 'Legend' After Refusing To Wear a Suit to the Oscars: 'Never Change'

Adam Sandler is known for his hilarious movies and his low-key attitude. However, both those things were on display at the 97th Annual Academy Awards. Sandler could be seen sitting relatively close to the front of the room. Although one thing really made him stick out, and that would be his clothes. The comedy icon was rocking a bright blue sweatshirt with the hood up, as well as a darker blue pair of basketball shorts. Fans ever told him to "never change."

The awards opened with host Conan O'Brien going through his opening monologue. The awards took place on March 2nd at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Conan made it clear that the Oscars are a "prestigious night." He also wanted the crowd dressed for the occasion. However, that would be when Adam Sandler came in. When O'Brien looked up to see Sandler sitting in the stands without a suit on, the jokes began to flow.

The host would start off by asking Adam what he was wearing. Sandler quickly fired back in defense of his outfit. Amdam continued by saying nobody even noticed what he had on until Conan brought it to their attention. After some more playful banter, Sandler got up and did a few rounds and seemingly went on his way. After the bit hit social media, fans would then call Adam a "Legend."

However, social media users would flood X with their own opinions on the matter.

It seems as though a majority of social media users found the interaction extremely funny.

Sandler has always had a very chill vibe, even early on in his acting career. The 58-year-old has been in countless films, including one of his most popular projects, Grown Ups one and two. Adam has also established great relationships with many other stars, including many professional athletes. Travis Kelce would be one example, as the tight end is set to have a role in the Happy Gilmore sequel.

The Oscars have always been packed with fierce competition. The casts and crews that bring these fantastic films to life deserve all of their flowers. However, it is important not to take something that is supposed to be a celebration too seriously. That may be a reason the Sandler bit has grown so popular, it was slightly unexpected, and seemed to lighten the mood perfectly. Adam made his mark on The Oscars in a way that only he himself could.
