The St. Dominic Saints of Auburn rallied in a physical matchup Saturday afternoon to secure their first gold ball at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
The Saints set the fast pace of the game against the Schenck Wolverines, rattling their opponent on both ends of the court for a 34-31 win.
St. Doms rebuilt its early lead of the game after being down by two at halftime. It scored 15 points as a team and allowed only a single layup by Schenck the whole third quarter.
With 10 seconds left, senior forward Jonathon Tangilamesu secured the defensive rebound and was fouled. St. Doms was in the bonus and he cashed one free throw to secure the win for the Saints.
St. Dominic senior guard Taylor Varney was the lead scorer of the game with 10 points. Teammate Isaac Yombe, a senior guard, stuck behind him with nine points.
