Person found dead inside burned out trailer in Riverside County

Firefighters discovered a deceased person inside of a burnt out trailer in Riverside County on Tuesday, leading to an investigation to determine if foul play was involved.

The discovery was made on Tuesday at the Jojoba Hills RV Resort on Highway 79 while Riverside County Fire Department crews were mopping up the remnants of two fires that had broken out the night prior, according to investigators with the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.

Crews alerted deputies with RSO's Central Homicide Unit of the discovery, who responded to the area to initiate their investigation.

They did not provide further information as the probe is in its early stages.

Firefighters were dispatched to the area at around 5 p.m. on Monday when a trailer at the park caught fire, shortly before a second fire was reported at a nearby storage yard, which they say runs adjacent to a ravine west of the trailer's location.

Thanks to slow-moving flames and a lack of wind in the area, crews quickly contained the fires by 6 p.m.

The cause of the fire also remains under investigation.

Anyone who knows more on either case is asked to contact RSO detectives at (951) 955-1777.
