Former Benjamin standouts Chauncey Bowens, Amaree Williams score touchdowns in Week 2

A pair of former Benjamin School stars scored the first touchdowns of their college seasons on Saturday, Sept. 6, with both Chauncey Bowens of Georgia and Amaree Williams of Florida State finding paydirt.

With the second week of college football action under way, the two power-four programs posted big wins, and Palm Beach County football fans got the opportunity to see former local stars score in some memorable moments.

Just two games into the 2025 season, Georgia running back Chauncey Bowens has already eclipsed his 2024 yardage total -- and Week 2 featured an explosive performance that has Bulldogs fans excited.

The former Benjamin School running back tallied a collegiate career-high 56 yards on carries, scoring two touchdowns on Saturday, Sept. 6, including the opening score of a 28-6 victory against Austin Peay.

It was Bowens' first collegiate touchdown.

Playing as a red-shirt freshman, Bowens has been waiting for his chance since graduating Benjamin in 2024, and he's finally getting the opportunity to show his skill-set.

A week removed from posting 33 yards rushing on six carries against Marshall, Georgia opened the playbook for their talented running back room in Week 2. Bowens capitalized against Austin Peay, showing slippery speed and evasion in addition to his trademark downhill running style that Palm Beach County fans will recognize quite quickly.

Fellow running back Nate Frazier added 69 yards and two scores on 14 carries to lead the Georgia backfield, but Bowens' breakthrough performance showcased his skills as the Bulldogs' No. 2 back on the depth chart.

Amaree Williams scored his first touchdown of the season in highlight fashion, taking a screen pass behind the line of scrimmage and bursting downfield for a 35-yard score.

Williams scored two touchdowns last year with Florida State, but he got his first one this season in a hurry with the Seminoles up big against Texas A&M Commerce.

Williams' score put the Seminoles up 55-0 early in the second half of Saturday's game, and Florida State would go on to win the game 77-3.

A two-way player at Benjamin, Williams was recruited as a tight end by Florida State, and when he's been on the field, the combination of speed and power makes him a dangerous hybrid player for the Seminoles offense.
