TUCSON, Ariz. - Washington softball split a pair of Top 25 matchups on day one of the Candrea Classic on Friday. The Huskies fell in the opening game, 5-1, to No. 11 Alabama but bounced back with a 6-2 victory over No. 16 Arizona.

Sophomore catcher got things going with a first pitch home run. It is the second homer of her career with her first coming in the 2024 season opener versus Nebraska.
Alabama responded with five unanswered runs - one in the second, three in the third and one in the sixth.
(0-1) made her first career start in the circle, going 5.1 innings. She struck out four.

Arizona jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after two innings, but the Huskies responded with five runs of their own.
Fifth-year senior sent her first home run as a Dawg over the center field wall to tie the game at two apiece. had a three-run homer in the following inning to give UW a 5-2 lead.
got her first start as a Husky, going 2.1 innings with a strikeout. (1-0) came on in the third to pick up her first win. Ramuno went 4.2 innings with four strikeouts.
Three more Huskies made their debuts with , Hansen and Ramuno.
The Huskies are back for day two of the Candrea Classic on Saturday. Washington will face No. 11 Alabama (8:30 a.m. PT) and Western Michigan (1:30 p.m. PT). Both games will be streamed on FloCollege and live stats will be available at HuskyStats.com.
