PHOENIX (AZFamily) -- A group of Arizona students are coming together to do Something Good -- supporting those diagnosed with brain tumors.
Experts say brain tumors are the number of cause of cancer deaths in children through high school, and the second leading cause of death for young adults ages 20-29.
To help raise awareness and money for brain tumor research, an organization called Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research (SSBTR), is hosting its annual Cure-A-Thon. Braydon Kim, Mia Coviello and Nithish Prakash are three of the organization's co-chairs.
The nonprofit started back in 2002 and has grown every year, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars. All of the money raised goes to support Phoenix Children's Hospital, Barrow Neurological Institute and the National Brain Tumor Society.
In addition to being actively involved in raising money, students also get involved in research side, with some even attending an actual brain surgery.
The Cure-A-Thon will be held on Saturday, February 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Saguaro High School. The high school is located at 6250 N 82nd Street in Scottsdale.
Guests can enjoy free food, live music and participate in a silent auction. Click or tap here for more details or to register online.
