Mars and Mt. Lebanon will try to defend their boys and girls lacrosse titles in their respective classifications at the WPIAL championships Wednesday and Thursday at Upper St. Clair.
WPIAL officials announced championship details Tuesday. The Class 2A girls and boys championships will be Wednesday, and the Class 3A finals are Thursday.
Semifinal action wrapped up Monday evening.
For the girls, No. 1 Mars defeated No. 4 Blackhawk, 13-8, and No. 3 Chartiers Valley defeated No. 7 Quaker Valley, 10-8 in the Class 2A semifinals. Mars will face the Colts at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the finals.
In Class 3A, No. 3 Mt. Lebanon edged No. 2 Upper St. Clair, 12-9, and No. 1 Pine-Richland rolled past Moon, 16-6. The Blue Devils and Rams will square off at 6 p.m. Thursday.
On the boys' side, No. 1 Mt. Lebanon defeated No. 4 North Allegheny, 9-4, and No. 2 Shady Side Academy beat No. 3 Upper St. Clair, 13-8, in the Class 3A semifinals. The Blue Devils and Bulldogs will play at 8 p.m. Thursday.
In Class 2A, Mars got the best of Hampton, 13-6, and South Fayette rolled past Peters Township, 12-5. The Fightin' Planets and Lions will face off at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Mt. Lebanon (14-4) vs. Shady Side Academy (12-7) at Upper St. Clair, 8 p.m.
North Allegheny (10-9) vs. Upper St. Clair (11-7) at Upper St. Clair, 4 p.m.
